Andrew Gold Makes Three

andrew gold Andrew Gold Makes Three

This doesn’t make me happy, but I did call it yesterday.  We’ve got ourselves another CDT (Celebrity Death Trifecta).  This one features 3 men from different walks of life.  But, all celebrities nonetheless.  Plus, all three passed on the very same day.

  1. Jack Kevorkian (Doctor)
  2. James Arness (Actor)
  3. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Andrew Gold[/lastfm] (Singer)

You may not remember Andrew by name.  But you’ll know his music.  Ever watch The Golden Girls?

In 1978, Andrew Gold hit #25 on the pop charts with “Thank You For Being A Friend.”  Everyone knows the song.  Who remembers the lyrics NOT used in the Golden Girls theme?

Andrew’s biggest hit came one year earlier in 1977 with the #7 hit “Lonely Boy.”

I’m not sure what’s sadder.  Is it that Andrew Gold died of a heart attack at age 59 – or that there’s only ONE entry when you Google search “Andrew Gold dead?”  I hope this makes two.  We’ll miss you, Andrew!  Thank you for being a friend.
