restrictions in Phoenix area; I-10 narrowed in West Valley for rubberized
PHOENIX – Drivers who use Interstate 10
west of Loop 101 are asked to plan ahead and allow extra travel time this
weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Crews are
adding rubberized asphalt along I-10 in areas between Avondale Boulevard and
Verrado Way, now that current temperatures are providing the required conditions
for the paving to take place over the next few weeks. ADOT recommends drivers
consider alternate routes or travel during off-peak hours while the following
weekend work is under way:
Westbound I-10 narrowed to two lanes between Avondale Boulevard and Estrella
Parkway from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 10:30 p.m. Saturday (May 7) for rubberized
asphalt paving. Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safety
when approaching the work zone.
Westbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between Avondale Boulevard and Estrella
Parkway from 10:30 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (May 9). Please consider
traveling during non-peak times – including nighttime or early morning hours.
Consider alternate routes to avoid heavy freeway traffic.
Eastbound I-10 narrowed to four lanes (already in place) between Estrella Parkway and Avondale Boulevard until
9 p.m. Sunday (May 8). Please use caution in the work zone.
Eastbound I-10 narrowed to three lanes between Estrella Parkway and Avondale
Boulevard from 9 p.m. Sunday to 11:30 p.m. Friday (May 13). Please use
caution in the work zone.
- Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to
one lane between Verrado Way and Cotton Lane from 4 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m.
Sunday (May 8) and narrowed to two lanes in the same area from 4 a.m.
Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday (May 9) for rubberized asphalt paving.
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel
time and be prepared for eastbound I-10 ramp closures at times at Verrado Way
and Jackrabbit Trail.
Interstate 17 ramp to westbound I-10 at the ‘Stack’ interchange south of
McDowell Road closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday (May 7)
for safety barrier work. DETOUR:
Consider traveling west on McDowell Road to southbound 27th Avenue to access
Loop 202 closed between Cooper and McQueen roads in the Chandler area from 2
a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday (May 7) for HOV lane project. DETOUR: Freeway traffic will detour around
closure along Pecos Road.
Updated: Southbound Loop 101
narrowed to one lane overnight at Grand Avenue and at Camelback Road from 10
p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (May 7) for HOV lane project. Northbound Loop 101
narrowed to one lane at Camelback Road from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m.
Monday (May 9) for HOV lane project. DETOUR: Please merge
safely in work zone during overnight restrictions. Alternate routes include
