Congrats to Ryan Norrid, our Fulton Homes Be KOOL Stay in School winner this week. He was nominated by one of his teachers. He is a kid who has drive and sets a great example for all of us.
(Nominated by Dan Long)
Ryan Norrid is an intelligent, charming and energetic 6th grade student from St. Francis Xavier Elementary whose hobbies include baseball and skateboarding. Last year, Ryan found himself struggling to keep up with his class work, and his grades began to suffer. After visiting the Arizona Literacy and Learning Center, they concluded that Ryan’s condition was an auditory processing disorder, which made it difficult for him to decode and comprehend what he was reading.
Despite these challenges, Ryan has remained steadfast in his efforts to succeed in school. He has spent countless hours working with tutors from the Arizona Literacy and Learning Center, which have helped him develop methods for success in the classroom environment. Ryan’s dedication and will to succeed have led him to tremendous personal and academic gains over the past few years, which have earned him the praise of his teachers and peers. Ryan’s dedication to his school work has yielded a tremendous increase in his grades, which have increased substantially to a solid B average over the last 3 semesters.
Though he has made tremendous progress in a short period of time, Ryan continues to strive for excellence in his academic career. His strong work ethic and compassion for others has made him a source of inspiration for many of his classmates. There have been many times where I have witnessed Ryan struggle, yet he refuses to call it quits no matter how difficult the task might be. I’m honored to recommend Ryan for this award, and I am positive that his drive for success will continue throughout his academic and professional career.
