As reported earlier today, he was due to jet there this past Sunday, but fell sick just hours before his flight and was admitted to a hospital suffering acute stomach pains. Robin has cancelled a number of shows and postponed a planned meeting with Brazil’s president Dilm Rouseff. His publicity agency issued a statement with the apology.
“Robin apologises to all his fans in South America and to all the people who had worked on making this tour possible… Robin was looking forward to meeting and performing for his South American fans.
“Robin was taken ill suddenly in the early hours of Sunday April 3rd, on the morning of his planned departure from the UK. An ambulance was called, and, on medical advice, he has been advised not to risk travelling.”
No further details about Gibb’s condition have emerged since his hospitalisation. His representative previously said, “We are not sure what’s wrong with him at this stage and are worried. We don’t know if it is a recurrence of the previous problem or if it is something else entirely.”
