Conch Shell Blowing Contest

Key West, Florida musician Steve Gibson found satisfaction on Saturday by blowing a famous Rolling Stones tune on a shell to take the top spot in the island city’s 49th annual Conch Shell Blowing Contest.

Aside from the Stones’ “Satisfaction,” the 58-year-old also blew Deep Purple‘s “Smoke on the Water” to take the top spot in the men’s division.

The contest, which included participants ranging from children to senior citizens, also featured a “conchestra” whose 24-members blew and danced along to a recording of Abba‘s “Dancing Queen.”

THAT WAS GREAT!!! Makes me miss the Bahamas and Merv Griffin’s Hotel and Casino. Paradise Island is beyond gorgeous! That was long before Atlantis was built – almost 20 years ago. UGH!
