The fun and rock ‘n roll finesse of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jeff Beck[/lastfm] is back in a new must-have release that is sure to engage and enlighten, as well as provide some much-needed escape. Beck brings the classics, and some colorful guitar riffs, alongside raspy and rolling rock ‘n roll vocals from a number of guests. With a career that spans several decades, as well as a rank of 14th in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” Beck seems to leave all those accolades behind in order to provide cool, captivating, and heart-pounding jams in the new release, Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul.
An accompanying DVD makes this project an all-around package of fun, heart, and soul for Beck fans, who will not only be able to tap fingers and toes but get to watch the funk and festivities as well.
The musical contributions of[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Imelda May[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brian Setzer[/lastfm], among others, enhance a wonderfully planned musical party, complete with energy, vitality, and soul.
Have you ever heard “How High the Moon” sung and played like this!?
This event with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jeff Beck [/lastfm]was recorded at the Iridium Club in New York, the same place the late great[lastfm link_type="artist_info"] Les Paul[/lastfm]” held court” each Monday. While Beck provides an entertaining and touching tribute to Paul, he is also able to bring his own stamp of saucy swing to the project. The track titled, “New Orleans” for example, brings melodies, and encourages a shedding of the monotonous minutes you live for some deep, down-hearted fun!
If you don’t believe me, see for yourself!
Beck, who is known for his electric presence and playing, does delve into on-again and off-again appearances and recordings; however, that stagnated presence gives him fresh bolts of creativity. From helping shape hard rock to those intricate 70s jazz-fusion rendezvous, Beck is indeed a poignant figure in rock ‘n roll and validates that with this tribute to Les Paul. Personally, I think Paul is not only honored and humbled, but ready to participate in the festivities that Beck has musically provided!
