Director Julien Temple has been given the official “green light” to make a biopic on the life of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Marvin Gaye[/lastfm]. Temple has already made a slew of music documentaries including [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]David Bowie[/lastfm]: The Video Collection, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Whitney Houston[/lastfm]: The Greatest Hits and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Luther Vandross[/lastfm]: From Luther with Love – The Videos.
Screendaily.com reports the Marvin Gaye movie will center around Midnight Love, Gaye’s last studio album. Temple has obtained the necessary music rights from EMI. Spinner reports the film will be shot in Ostend, Belgium where Gaye lived when he left the country due to issues with the IRS.
Marvin Gaye was killed on April 1, 1984 at the age of 44.
