Well, look at this! [lastfm]Rolling Stones[/lastfm] frontman, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mick Jagger[/lastfm] will take stage for his FIRST-EVER live appearance at the Grammys next weekend! Jagger will be part of a tribute to the late soul legend [lastfm]Solomon Burke[/lastfm], who died this past year.
“We’re thrilled, delighted, excited and very much looking forward to Mick doing his debut on the Grammy stage,” Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy said in a statement. “It’s extraordinary to many of us that the fact is, this will be the first time; he has never performed on the Grammy stage.”
Jagger was last seen on the Grammys when the Stones were given a lifetime achievement award. For that broadcast, the band performed via satellite from London.
The band has also responded to news of their reported 50th anniversary tour. A band spokesperson announced, “The Stones confirmed today they have no firm plans to tour at this time.”
