Welcome back to all lovers of Classic Cars, Pony Cars, Muscle Cars, Exotic Cars, Hot Rods, Street Rods etc. For today I chose this 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner BEEP-BEEP! It has the full 426 HEMI – 425 hp MOPAR engine! The Roadrunner was introduced several years earlier as a stripped down Plymouth with a big engine targeted toward the “younger” members of the Muscle Car market who were more interested in power and extreme “Cool” than fancy options like their Dad’s car. Of course, the most important “must have” option was a RADIO!
On a note of “gee, I wish I had bought several of these and put them away” – the sticker price on this car was around $ 4,900.00 in 1971! What’s even worse than that…1971 does not seem that long ago to me! Again, as in yesterday’s blog, this car is part of the collection of Richard Carpenter of “The Carpenters” music fame in Thousand Oaks, California. Take a look at his incredible collection by clicking over to richardandkarencarpenter.com.
You will see hundreds and hundreds of cars like this at the famous Barrett-Jackson Collectible Car Event next week at Westworld of Scottsdale. I will be broadcasting “live” from there next Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM and I hope to see you there. Oh yes, to help get you into the show for FREE…listen to KOOL 94.5 for your chance to win a pair of tickets on the “KOOL Car Tunes Weekend!”
Just remember 260-9494 and we will tell you when to call, be the 9th caller and you are “IN” to Barrett-Jackson next week! Good Luck!
