According to the mayor of London, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Rolling Stones[/lastfm] guitarist Keith Richards ought to be known as “Sir Keith Richards.”
Mayor Boris Johnson’s recent column in the Daily Telegraph in Britain called into question the fact that Mick Jagger has already been knighted, and he remains the only member of the Stones to be given the prestigious honor- or any honor, for that matter.
Johnson tears into former British Prime Minister Tony Blair for failing to give Richards any sort of honorable distinction.
He even went so far as to compare it to his other follies during his time as P.M., like leading Britain into the Iraq War.
Johnson longs for the day that Blair is indicted for what he clearly believes to be an extreme injustice.
Now while it does seem a little crazy for Mick Jagger to be the only member of the Rolling Stones to be knighted at this point, it’s a little harsh to describe Blair’s decision (or lack thereof) as something of a hate crime.
Richards may still be knighted in the future, and justice may still be served. But Johnson has let it known that for it not to have happened yet is an outrage.
