September 4, 1962.  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Beatles[/lastfm], along with their new drummer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ringo Starr[/lastfm], arrive at Abbey Road studios for their first session with producer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]George Martin[/lastfm].  George had seen the group with their previous drummer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Pete Best[/lastfm] the previous June, and deemed him not good enough for studio work.  Covering his bases, George Martin had hired a session drummer to play on Love Me Do.  Ringo was devistated.
