Last night, [lastfm]Billy Joel[/lastfm]’s “Last Play At Shea” documentary aired at a few theatres in the Valley, and I was SO happy to be at one of the showings! Sadly, I was one of only TWELVE in the theatre :-(
According to TheLastPlayAtShea.com, there will be an encore showing on Wednesday, 10/27 @ 8pm at the UltraStar Surprise Pointe 14! CLICK HERE to buy tickets. If you can’t make that, it will be released on DVD sometime in February…with a full concert DVD one month later.
I highly recommend seeing this movie! It was REALLY good. Not only was it about Billy Joel’s show, it went through the history of Shea Stadium. From the [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm] concert to the New York Mets to the demolition. A bunch of superstar singers are interviewed and featured on stage. Also included was a heartfelt story of a groundskeeper who worked at Shea from day one till the very end. He drove the Beatles in and out of Shea, and got to drive [lastfm]Paul McCartney[/lastfm], again, for the Last Play At Shea.
