Why did a Beatles autograph sell for $1.2 million this week?
I have a picture of the “autograph” just sold – and the story…
Southerby’s in New York sold the double sided sheet of paper that had been written in felt marker and blue ink. It also contains corrections and other notes penned in red ink. Look closely…it’s John Lennon’s handwritten lyrics for “A Day In The Life” . The buyer was an anonymous American telephone bidder. The lyric sheet had previously belonged not to Yoko Ono, but to The Beatles road manager Mal Evans.
It topped the previous record paid for an original Beatled lyric (All You Need Is Love in 2005) ny over 200,000.
Don’t you wonder what the new owner is going to do with it?
