I am a newbie to the Valley of the Sun, having just moved here from suburban DC in January. While I’ve lived in many cold weather climates, I did spend a few years in South Florida. That’s where I became accustomed – and enamored – with year-round heat. But, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced 110 degrees…much less the occasional 120 we see here in Arizona. Looks like I’m about to!
I saw in the AZ Republic this morning that we could hit 110 by Sunday! The average date for this is June 19th. According to the article, the earliest day to hit 110 in the past 30 years was May 8, 1989. In 2000, we didn’t hit 110 until Sept. 15th! Next Monday and Tuesday could actually climb ABOVE 110.
Time to start carrying oven mitts and ice buckets!!!
