What did I tell you? I won’t say “I told you so,” as that would be insulting the memory of a great actor. BUT…
Regarding my blog from Thursday, the CDT (Celebrity Death Trifecta) has been completed. We lost Peter Graves this weekend.
Graves died Sunday at age 83. According to his publicist, he suffered a heart attack. His family found him collapsed in their driveway after returning home from brunch. Even CPR from his daughter couldn’t save him.
Here’s a tidbit I did NOT know. His older brother was James Arness, Marshal Matt Dillon from “Gunsmoke!”
Of course, the world got to know Peter Graves on Mission: Impossible in the 60’s. But, my favorite role was of Captain Clarence Oveur in the Airplane! movie series. His lines have gone down in movie quote history:
“Do you like movies about gladiators?”
“Have you ever been to a Turkish prison?”
“You ever seen a grown man naked?”
“Roger, Roger. What’s our vector Victor?”
So, this wraps up the latest CDT of Corey Haim, Merlin Olsen and Peter Graves. Wow, that sure is a case of “one of these things is not like the other,” isn’t it? Let’s just hope the next Trifecta isn’t for a long time!
