“There’s something happening here. What it is ain’t exactly clear.” Those words from [lastfm]Buffalo Springfield[/lastfm] are my reaction to the 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile this weekend. It was also my reaction to each in the long chain of natural disasters over the last 5+ years (e.g. -the tsunami in Asia; the hurricane and flood in New Orleans; the earthquake in Haiti; the recent blizzards in the US). Is it El Nino? It is global warming?
The fact is it doesn’t matter WHAT is causing these freak tragedies. They’re happening. While Earth has experienced these for millions of years, they seem to be more frequent in recent times. And they’re bigger than…well, the [lastfm]Beatles[/lastfm]. They’re bigger than humankind, frankly. There doesn’t seem to be a way to simply prevent them. So, all we can do is try to help when they DO happen.
CLICK HERE for a link to the Red Cross. If you’ve ever wondered exactly what it is they do in times like these, you’ll get a pretty decent explanation. I encourage you to click on the red “Donate Now” button as well. While I realize we’re going through some extremely tough times of our own, economically, every penny counts! Thank you.
